Frequently asked questions and answers.
Can you lay the floor topping before fitting the door?
For One-Piece-Doors, the floor topping needs to be laid before fitting the door, as One-Piece-Doors are delivered with a threshold as standard, which also represents the finish of the floor topping towards the front.
In the case of Overhead Sectional Doors and aluminium frame doors, the floor topping has to be laid when fitting the door. If this is not the case, the fitter must be aware of the final height (incl. any planned tiling) during installation. This allows the fitter to use appropriate underlays in order to reach the planned final height.
For Side Sectional Doors, the floor topping should also be laid after fitting the door. For renovations, we also provide renovation floor rails for installing Side Sectional Doors on finished floors. This design requires a truly level floor in both the door's entrance as well as in the side inlet area.

Should the door be fitted before or after plastering?
All doors are generally installed in plastered walls (plastered on the inside wall of the garage – it does not matter whether a wall depth is plastered or not for door fitting).
Exceptions: Henderson One-Piece-Doors and Normstahl side entrance doors can also be installed in un-plastered walls (they are ideally installed between the pier).
What do the standard measurements mean?
The standard sizes are based on popular garage measurements, so these dimensions are produced more often and more efficiently and we pass all cost benefits on to our customers.
Standard sizes generally also do not have shortened door elements, so they offer a visually balanced design for surfaces with design elements, such as cassettes or decorative fixtures, as special dimensions of the respective door model.
However, non-standard garage measurements often also arise, for example during renovations, which require customised production. The width and height of the Henderson Superior 42 series can be precisely adjusted in mm increments.
What is the difference between a One-Piece-Door and a sectional door?
A One-Piece-Door consists of a single door leaf produced from galvanised steel plate. When opening, the bottom edge of the door swings outwards, so the space in front of the door is required and must be kept clear.
A sectional door consists of multiple foam-filled panel sections that form the door leaf. They are connected to one another by hinges. The benefit of a sectional door compared to a One-Piece-Door is that it opens vertically or horizontally, so does not require any space in front of the door. All panels of Henderson 42 mm-thick sectional doors are also well-insulated and thermally separated. The heat insulation and energy efficiency is much better than for a One-Piece-Door.
In an Overhead Sectional Door, the sections are arranged horizontally above one another so that it can open vertically upwards. As the name suggests, the Side Sectional Door opens to the right or left inlet side. The panel sections are arranged vertically next to one another.
Every sectional door offers certain advantages and is suitable for different structural situations.
Side Sectional Doors are generally installed if the aim is to use the space on the ceiling. It also provides a garage door and inlet in one thanks to the partial opening function.

It is always possible to release the doors from inside the garage. However, if no separate access to the garage exists, we recommend selecting an additional external „emergency release“ for the garage door. It is important that this is correctly installed and that the emergency release function is repeatedly tested at the maintenance interval, „just in case“.
An emergency release is an accessory that is always important if the garage door is fitted with an operator and the garage does not have a second access point. This allows the door to be mechanically opened from the outside in case of a power failure or other fault.
Yes, all Henderson door operators stop automatically and open immediately, if an obstruction is detected so that no one ever „gets stuck„ or injured.
Yes, if the necessary minimum dimensions for the side reveal, lintel protrusion and insertion space and depth exist for the selected door variants. However, the various Henderson doors offer a solution for virtually every structural situation. Send us an e-mail or give us a call. We are always happy to help.
What is a side entrance door?
A side entrance door is a door next to the garage door, which also provides access to the garage. The advantage is that the garage door does not have to be used to access the garage every time.
All side entrance doors are available in matching garage door designs and ensure a uniform look.
What is a pass-door?
A pass-door is a door integrated into the door leaf, which provides access to the garage without having to open the garage door. It is often installed if no space is available for a side entrance door. It is also used if the garage door is frequently accessed without the need to open the entire door every time. The low threshold for Henderson garage doors also does not present a tripping hazard and can be conveniently passed over.
What is finger trapping protection for the panels?
Finger trapping protections means that our panels are ergonomically designed so that fingers are pushed out, even if an individual deliberately reaches into a panel's joint area. There is never a gap into which fingers could be inserted and become stuck. The integrated finger trapping protection allows injuries to be prevented.
